Lewandowski scoops Germany´s footballer of the year prize for second year running

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been crowned Germany’s Footballer of the Year for 2021.

The Pole lands the award for a second successive season following a record-breaking Bundesliga campaign with Bayern; becoming the first player to retain the accolade since Michael Ballack in 2003.

Lewandowski scored a staggering 41 league goals – surpassing Gerd Muller s record tally of 40 from 1971-72 – as Hansi Flick’s side secured a ninth straight title.

The 32-year-old was the runaway winner of the award, receiving 356 of the 563 votes cast in a poll conducted by journalists from sports magazine Kicker – 315 more than his nearest challenger Thomas Muller.

Tottenham say the findings of their initial investigation into alleged racial abuse aimed at Antonio Rudiger are inconclusive as the club calls in lip-readers to assess CCTV footage.

Rudiger told Chelsea club captain Cesar Azpilicueta that he was subjected to racist chants during their 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

PSV have confirmed the loan signing of Toni Lato from LaLiga club Valencia following Angelino s return to Manchester City.

Angelino s move back to City was confirmed on Wednesday, with the full-back returning to Manchester a year after leaving the Premier League champions.

Lionel Messi has joined Paris Saint-Germain training and was given a warm welcome by superstar team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

Messi this week completed his stunning free transfer to PSG having left Barcelona.

Tottenham defender William Gallas admits he may be forced to leave White Hart Lane at the end of the season.

Spurs now boast five quality centre-backs and boss Andre Villas-Boas has said that at least one of them will leave next summer.

With Michael Dawson getting back into first team reckoning and Steven Caulker showing a lot of promise since returning from Swansea, William Gallas looks likely to be sacrificed.
